The Home Secretary of Balochistan, captain (Rtd) Mohammad Akbar Durani on Monday said that the police were being equipped with the latest weapons and modern techniques to combat the menace of terrorism. Talking to media men after offering the funeral prayer of the slain police personnel here at police line, the Home secretary paid homage to the policemen who were killed by the gunmen they were chasing.

He emphasised that the dedicated men of our LEAs were protecting the lives and properties of the public at the cost of their lives. "Today's incident of violence took place because of the failure of the intelligence system," he said adding however that we are determined to eliminate the elements opposed to peace from society.

He said that there were some weaknesses in the intelligence network that caused the killing of a government official and policemen in Quetta. IG Balochistan police Tariq Umer Khitab and CCPO Quetta Mir Zubair Mehmood were also present on the occasion and they vowed to continue their fight against the anti-peace elements.

"Our morale is high despite the fact that our enemy is sharp," they said adding we would leave no stone unturned and fight until peace is restored in the region. They, however, appealed to the public to cooperate with the law enforcers to ensure that those creating a law and order situation are taken to task.
